Unmatched Features, Exceptional Performance
DALSA Life Sciences products are specifically designed for the challenges of medical and scientific imaging. Since 1994 we have built high-performance devices for a range of medical imaging OEMs. From those specific designs we have developed a suite of products to serve clinical, analytical, and industrial applications.
- XR-4 Camera: innovative 16 megapixel CCD digital X-ray camera for high resolution radiography applications such as diagnostic spot mammography, sterotatatically-guided needle breast biopsy and CT. The camera has a large field of view (150 x 150 mm) and can operate up to 10 frames per second (4 x 4 binning mode).
- XR-4S Camera: innovative 4 megapixel CCD digital X-ray camera for diagnostic spot mammography, sterotatatically-guided needle breast biopsy. Extremely high QE and 16 bit data for unmatched image quality. The camera has a large field of view (150 x 150 mm) and can operate up to 10 frames per second (4 x 4 binning mode).
- High Quanta IA-DJ-02084 CCD: 4 megapixel CCD with high sensitivity, high frame rate and large field of view (50 mm x 50 mm) for scientific and medical X-ray applications
- High Quanta IA-DJ-01044 CCD: 1 megapixel CCD with high sensitivity, high frame rate for scientific and medical X-ray applications
- High Quanta IA-DJ-05244 CCD: large pixel CCD with high sensitivity, high frame rate a for scientific and medical X-ray applications
- Slow-scan cameras: Liquid-cooled, air-cooled, or non-cooled, available in 25-70mm fiber optically coupled modules. Available with 500kHz 16-bit or 2MHz 14-bit readout and a range of CCD and phosphor options.
Our products' features are powerful and diverse to match their target applications. Features can include:
- Low Noise: exposure times up to one hour.
- High Sensitivity: Quantum efficiencies up to 90%.
- High Dynamic Range: up to 16 bits of dynamic range.
- High Resolution: buttable detector modules of up to 4096 x 4096 resolution.
- High Speed: High frame rates for higher productivity.

Core Competencies: Our Edge
DALSA Life Sciences cameras excel because of our experience and expertise with a number of core technologies. No other imaging vendor brings together such sophistication in so many critical technologies in packages designed and priced for the real world. Our strengths include:
- Cooled imagers: Anyone can cool a sensor, but not just anyone can cool it efficiently and build it into a effective product. We use thermoelectric, air, and/or liquid cooling to bring our imagers to 35C° below ambient, reducing dark current to as little as 1 electron per pixel per second and allowing exposures as long as one hour. Read more about cooling...
- Fiber optics: With advantages such as better image resolution, more efficient light collection and transmission, and tapered, buttable modules for imaging larger areas, it's easy to see why fiber optics can be useful in digital radiography. But not just anyone can overcome fiber's challenges--such as the difficulty of precise, robust bonding. Read more about fiber optics...
- High-precision digitization: Our products output superior images because our digitzation electronics preserve the dynamic range that good sensors and effective cooling techniques make possible. Read more about high-precision digitization...
